Amidst the witches, superheros and fairies an important message was sent to the families of Carlsbad who participated in the 13th annual downtown Trick or Treat and Fall Festival. The Coalition was given the opportunity to talk about simple steps that parents can utilize regarding proper disposal and storage of prescription drugs. These steps include; 1) Use a lockbox to store medications, 2) Dispose of medications in kitty litter or coffee grounds, 3) Never flush medications as it gets into the communities water supply and 4) Never refer to medications as candy to children. Thanks to Carlsbad Mainstreet and all the ghouls and goblins involved for creating such a great event.
